The classic 4D scan can be performed between 24-32 weeks.
We recommend coming at 28 weeks for the best chances of great images.
The classic 4D scan is a wonderful way for expectant parents to bond with baby and make unique memories that they will last for a lifetime. New parents can share this experience with family and friends as we have a very large scan room and can easily fit up to 5 guests, children are welcome too.

Please note that the basic well-being scan, as part of this service, to check baby’s health & development does not include growth measurements or an estimate of baby’s weight. Growth measurements can be added as an optional extra to your scan for £20.
Classic 4D Scan Package
When you come to our clinic for your scan you will be greeted by one of our friendly reception team. While you wait to be called in for your scan you can relax in our lovely private air-conditioned waiting room where you can help yourself to complimentary chocolates and cold water while you browse through the photo frames, heartbeat bears and other gifts we have available for sale. When the sonographer is ready for you, you will be called into the scan room. You are welcome to bring family and friends as we have a large scan room and everyone is welcome including children.
We have two large screens as well as a huge projector so everyone will get a great view.
All our sonographers are qualified professionals, during the scan the sonographer will always check baby’s heartbeat and do a basic well-being check by scanning the baby from head to toe, the sonographer will point out what they are checking as they go. Most of the scan will be focused on getting 4D images of babies face, sometimes this is easy but most times we will need to be patient as we often have to wait for baby to move to get great images. In these cases, the sonographer will need your help with encouraging baby to move. If needed the sonographer will ask you to roll from side to side or to lift up your hips and shake to encourage baby to move. The sonographer will take video clips and still images of baby in 4D these will all be emailed to you along with a report. The sonographer will also print 2 black and white thermal prints from the ultrasound machine for you to take home.
If you wish to buy additional photo prints, key rings or photo frames this can be done at reception after the scan.
Before you leave our receptionist with give you a free gift and your unique password that you will need to open your email with your scan images, video clips and report.

What is the difference between 3D and 4D ultrasound?
A still image is 3D and a video clip is 4D the 4th dimension is time.

Do you offer a free rescan if we don’t get 4D images of baby's face?
Yes, if we can not get 4D images of your baby’s face we will offer one free rescan.

Can I bring my children with me to my scan?
Yes, children are welcome.

What is the difference between the classic 4D and the deluxe 4D package?
The classic 4D is in normal 4D (yellow images) and the deluxe 4D is in HD (high definition with pink tone). The classic 4D only includes two black and white thermal prints from the ultrasound machine whereas the deluxe includes 6 thermal prints. The deluxe scan is also slightly longer than the classic 4D scan.

Can I have a 4D scan if I do not want to know my baby's gender?
Yes, that’s no problem just make sure you let the sonographer know that you do not want to know the gender and they will keep that secret.

How long will my appointment take?
This really depends if baby is in a good position or not. If baby is in a good position you should expect to be in the clinic for about 20mins however if baby is not in a great position we may send you for a walk to encourage baby to move and this could mean that you are in the clinic for around an hour.

Do I need to have a full bladder?
No, but we recommend that you do not empty your bladder just before the scan because if the baby isn’t in a good position the sonographer will send you to the toilet to empty your bladder as this can sometimes help encourage baby to move.

When do recommend coming for a 4D scan?
We recommend coming at 28 weeks. The further along you are the more defined baby’s features will be and the more they will look like what they look like when they are born however as the pregnancy progresses there is naturally less room and less amniotic fluid so it makes it more difficult to get a clear image of babys face as it is more likely to be pressed against the walls of the womb.

Does the classic 4D include measurements of the baby?
No, our 4D scans do not include growth measurements however you can add these on as an extra if you choose.

Do you have parking?
There is plenty of free parking on the road outside the clinic. There are parking restrictions on the yellow lines between 11am – 12noon on weekdays on some roads however you should still be able to find a park at these times further down Allington Road with a short walk of 2-3mins at the most.
