  • Please note that you must have had you first trimester screening scan (12 week scan) with the NHS before we will perform this scan. We will not check the gender or look in 4D as part of this scan

Please note that the basic well-being scan, as part of this service, to check baby’s health & development does not include growth measurements or an estimate of baby’s weight. Growth measurements can be added as an optional extra to your scan.

A quick reassurance scan is a quick affordable scan to allow expectant parents to see their baby in between NHS scans.

It can give expectant parents peace of mind that all is going well, especially before the baby is big enough to be felt kicking. A lot of people feel that it is a long time in between NHS scans and would just like to see the baby more often that the  2 standard NHS scans. During a quick reassurance scan the sonographer with show you your baby’s heartbeat. You will also be able to listen to the heartbeat.

The sonographer will perform a basic well-being scan to check baby’s health and development this involves scanning through you baby from head to toe to check basic anatomy. (Please note that this is not as in depth as the 20 week NHS scan and does not include growth measurements or an estimate of baby’s weight). The sonographer will try to get a profile picture of your baby so you can see your baby’s face, please note that depending on the baby’s position and how far along you are this may not always be possible and because this is quick affordable scan the sonographer will not be able to spend much time trying to get the baby to move if not in a good position.

The sonographer will show you the position of your baby and the placenta. (Please note that we will not be able to tell you if the placenta is high or low)

The sonographer will take pictures and video clips during you scan that will be e-mailed to you with a report.

The sonographer will a print one picture from the ultrasound machine for you to take home.

You can have a quick reassurance scan anytime form 14-40 weeks as long as you have a you 12 week NHS scan first.

The baby obviously changes a lot from 14-40 weeks.

Most people find it much easier to see the baby and understand the scan images when the baby is smaller. The bigger the baby gets especially after 36 weeks the harder they can be to see, as the whole baby no longer fits on screen and their face can often be pushed against the wall of the uterus, making it difficult to see their profile.
